What is the difference between an Exercise Physiology and a Physiotherapy?

Exercise Physiology

  • DESIGN, DELIVER and EVALUATE safe and effective exercise interventions for people with sub-acute to chronic conditions, injuries, or disabilities.
  • Help to facilitate and optimize health status, function, recovery and independence to participate in activities at home, school, work, and in the community.

Physiotherapy

  • ASSESS, DIAGNOSE, PLAN, and TREAT the care of patients across a broad range of areas and conditions.
  • Help to restore movement and function and reduce injury risk through visual and hands on evaluation.

Pulmonary Rehab classes

Physio and Fitness are starting a 6 week program focused on exercise and education for those suffering with lung conditions and/or diseases. This is a 60-minute exercise class supervised by our Exercise Physiologist.



What is Pulmonary Rehab?

  • Pulmonary rehab with its core components, including exercise training combined with disease specific education, improves exercise capacity, symptoms, and quality of life across all grades of lung conditions and severity.
  • Helps to maintain physical and emotional participation in everyday activities.
  • Suitable for people with all types and severities of lung condition/disease.

What are the benefits of this program?

  • Individualized exercise program that suits your needs and goals.
  • Increase in exercise tolerance to help make everyday activities such as showering, hanging out the washing, walking, or gardening easier.
  • Decrease breathlessness and fatigue
  • Improve knowledge around lung conditions and managing symptoms.
